P2P Souvinirs

Hey everyone, I was just wondering a little (or maybe a lot) about purchasing souvinirs on P2P trips.

I will be traveling on the European Heritage (England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland) trip this summer and my excitement level is bursting!! Over the past few months, I've been thinking about what/where to buy souvinirs and gifts for people in these places in Europe. If you have any ideas of what to buy as gifts, for myself, where to shop, prices, and any other shopping/souvinir buying in Europe, please reply! Thanks!

you'll stop at plenty of places during your trip where you can buy stuff.

on both of my trips, we had opportunities to buy things that the country was "known for". for example in ireland we stopped at a place to buy wool items, and in australia we went to an aboriginal park and an opal place.

one tip that i know i found helpful was to make a list of the both the people you want/need to buy for, along with what you might want to get them. makes shopping a lot easier, and also will help you from forgetting people.

hope you have fun on your trip.

it all does vary from country to country though cause like germany their famous for kuku clocks and real one's are very expensive, so as for getting stuff that represents that countryn it will probibly be expensive, for me i kept those things or gave them to my immediate family so i could also enjoy them.

souvenirs

Hey,

I went on this exact trip last year. First off what you want to get someone really depends on how much you are willing to spend on them. There will be many places in England to buy souvenirs. You will want to spend money at the London Eye, Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, Stonehenge, and Big Ben. When I was there typically the prices for souvenirs was $2.00 is the same as 1.00 pound. Definitely take a bucket load of money if you want the good stuff. When you get to Germany you will definitely want to buy a cuckoo clock. Most of the clocks the Germans make are fairly large so either save room in your suitcase or put it under your seat on the plane. Shipping the clocks are very expensive. The cuckoo clock I bought was about $200.00. I will post another comment later with more tips.

I, too, took this same itinerary 2 years ago as a Delegation Leader. It was incredible! I bought a cuckoo clock in the Black Forest of Germany, had some Belgian Chocolate shipped home from Brugges, and bought a nice Swiss watch for my fiancee. A lot of the ambassadors bought real Swiss Army knives (the original red ones can only be purchased in Switzerland) from the many styles and sizes available. Also, you can't leave Paris without something that has an Eiffel Tower on it!

Are the students allowed to purchase to Swiss Army knives? Also, will it be a problem coming home on the plane with them?
